the lie about "settler violence:"

 the latest anti-Israel propaganda about a supposed existence of and increase of “settler violence” in Judea and Samaria, and sent a letter decrying this fake problem to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This letter urged Netanyahu to intercede to stop the phony “surge” of violence. The Senate Democrats ignore the true daily surge of Arab violence, including big gun and knife attacks against Jews and car rammings against Jews, all of which are promoted by the Palestinian Arab regime and the Imams in the mosques and the Palestinian media.

At the same time, many of these same Senators have introduced a bill, along with bigot and Socialist anti-Israel Senator Bernie Sanders, to force the State Department to produce a report on the same fake issue within 30 days. If the report is not issued, Israel would lose all military aid, which many of these same Senators have already voted to eliminate in any case.

The propaganda concerning this supposed “surge” relies on statistics from the United Nations ‘Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.’ These fake statistics claim that from 2016 through 2021, there were 6,285 incidents of “settler violence” against Palestinian Arabs. The UN promotes these fake numbers by using a ludicrous definition of “settler-related violence,” including:

Arabs injured or killed while they were perpetrating terror attacks against Israeli Jews; misclassified Arab attacks on Jews!; Jewish visits to Temple Mount (16% of alleged incidents); clashes with security forces (14%); tourists visiting archeological sites; infrastructure work legally carried out by Israel; traffic accidents; alleged “trespassing” by Israeli tourists or hikers, with no damage to property or person (19%); incidents outside of Judea/Samaria (20%); involvement in clashes with no indication as to who initiated or was responsible.

Further, the UN itself admits that it does not confirm every detail before incidents are added to the list, which makes the numbers even more unreliable.

The UN is well-known for its extreme antisemitic bias against Jews and Israel, and the U.S. Senate should not be relying on its lies for policy. The amount of crimes by Jews there is tiny and handled immediately by Israel. But the average of 14 daily terrorist attacks by Palestinian Arabs is horrifically huge and is ignored by the Senate’s Democratic caucus. Shame on them. ZOA condemns these Democratic Senators for inspiring Jew-hatred and Israel-bashing by promoting this lie. We urge them to stop!

“Where is their letter condemning the real violence and murder of Jews by Palestinians? And the Palestinians are paid by the Palestinian regime to commit murder of Jews. The dictatorship of the Palestinian regime spends $400 million per year paying Arabs a lifetime pension to murder Jews.

“Many people ask me why Jew-hatred has become such a problem in our own country. Part of the answer is the failure of Jewish leaders to push back on slanders against the Jewish People that have become endemic in our country. There is no genocide committed by Israel. There is no apartheid in Israel. And there is no crisis of ‘settler violence.’

Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez,

You chose Germany to use the word genocide against Israel.

Germany.

The country where genocide was engineered with bureaucratic precision. The land where six million Jews were industrially exterminated. The soil where memory is not symbolic but sacred.

That word is not casual there. It is seismic.

Genocide is a legal term under international law. It requires specific intent to eliminate a people. It is not defined by civilian casualties alone. It is defined by deliberate destruction of an ethnic or religious group.

On October 7, Israel was attacked in the deadliest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. Civilians were slaughtered. Women were brutalized. Families were burned. Children were kidnapped. Hostages were dragged into underground tunnels.

That was not “context.”
That was the beginning of the war.

Hamas embeds its military infrastructure inside civilian neighborhoods. It stores weapons in schools. It builds tunnels beneath homes and hospitals. It uses women and children as shields.

This is not rhetoric. It is documented asymmetric warfare.

Yes, civilian suffering in Gaza is real. Every innocent life lost is a tragedy. But tragedy is not automatically genocide. War in dense urban terrain against an entrenched terrorist organization is not legally synonymous with the systematic intent to destroy a people.

When an American member of Congress stands in Germany and labels Israel’s self-defense as genocide, the consequences are profound:

You legitimize a narrative that fuels antisemitism globally.
You embolden extremists who chant for the elimination of Israel.
You dilute the historical meaning of genocide itself.
You fracture the moral clarity young Americans desperately need.

Criticism of Israeli policy is legitimate. Democracies must withstand scrutiny. But equating self-defense against a terrorist organization with genocide is not precision. It is escalation.

New York is home to the largest Jewish population outside Israel. Your words do not remain in Berlin. They echo in synagogues, on campuses, and in streets where antisemitic incidents are already rising.

Leadership is not about amplifying the loudest crowd. It is about speaking hard truths even when your base resists them.

Terrorism is wrong.
Hostage-taking is wrong.
Antisemitism is wrong.

No qualifiers. No footnotes.

History has a long memory, especially in Germany.

We are a chavurah of empty nesters who want the camaraderie and identification of belonging to a Jewish religious organization, (Reform style and pro Israel) but who do not want the burden of buildings and board politics. It’s easy to be a member; you can be as involved or not, as you please. We are a sociable group, and as you might expect, friendships form based on chemistry and shared interests. We make time for schmoozing at services and have both Jewish and secular events. Even though we are a small budget entity, we are blessed by our Rabbi’s erudition and desire to teach. We have a wide range of religious practices and political views among us and all are welcome, but keep politics out of it.
